About
The City of Kiel Fire Department and Ambulance Service was formed in 1892 and is a single entity that provides fire, rescue, emergency medical services (EMS), and all other emergency services to the City of Kiel, Town of Schleswig, Town of Russell (EMS only), and portions of the Town of Rhine (EMS only) and Town of New Holstein (EMS only). The department is a combination that is comprised of volunteer, paid-on-call, and part-time members. This means that when the department is dispatched to an incident, available members respond to the station from their homes, places of work, or wherever they may be. The City of Kiel Fire Department and Ambulance Service responds to over 700 calls annually. The department also provides mutual aid assistance to other area departments through the Wisconsin Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS).
